High-power motor driver with one low-side current sensing, designed to control and monitor the performance of medium to high power motors.
High-Power Motor Driver
- Purpose: This driver is used to control the operation of high-power motors, such as those in industrial machinery, electric vehicles, and robotics.
- Components: Includes 135V/200A continuous power MOSFETs, 2110S control logic, and a driver protection circuit.
- Functionality: Manages the power supplied to the motor, ensuring efficient operation and protecting against overcurrent, overvoltage, and thermal overload. SimpleFOC compatible.
Low-Side Current Sensing
- Placement: The current sensing resistor is placed between the motor and ground (low side).
- Advantages:
- Simplicity: Easier to implement compared to high-side sensing.
- Cost-Effective: Generally cheaper as it doesn’t require high-voltage components.
- Fault Detection: Effective for detecting certain types of faults, such as overcurrent conditions.
- Disadvantages:
- Ground Reference Issues: Can introduce noise and affect the accuracy of the measurement.
- Limited Fault Detection: Cannot detect all types of faults, such as short circuits to ground.
Applications
- Industrial Automation: Used in controlling large motors in manufacturing and processing plants.
- Electric Vehicles: Essential for managing the power and efficiency of electric drivetrains.
- Robotics: Ensures precise control of motor functions in robotic arms and mobile robots
